Forging New Links for Systems Change

About

Impact Chains will inspire, forge new opportunities and build your capacity to drive positive impact from where you are, with what you have.

Impact Chains is a full day event in Adelaide designed to bring together impact drivers across all industries, sectors, professions and lived experiences to learn, connect, collaborate and take measurable action to address the many complex social and environmental problems that we face here in Australia and globally.

The Program

We are all agents and operators within systems, and no matter who we are or what we do, we are all capable of driving change.

Applying a systems lens, guests will spend the day (+ evening) immersed in multiple experiential activations, each hosted by teams of leading change agents, to build understanding of our role and spheres of influence within systems and our capacity and capability individually and collectively to enable positive change.

Regenerative Justice

Guests will go on a journey to learn and understand the complex systems, interactions and inequities that create pathways for people into the criminal justice system, and how these systems are set up entrap people within the criminal justice system rather helping them to break free of a life of crime. We will compare these current and common lived experiences with what our justice system could be like under a more regenerative and compassionate approach that increases community safety and wellbeing for all members of society.

Ideas to Unfuck the World: Harnessing our imagination & rebelliousness as forces for systems change

It’s time to feed and free our collective, radical imagination to envision and shape a fairer world! Facilitated by a crew of rebellious students and educators from Youth Inc, this activation will support you to rediscover the innate power of (y)our imagination as a powerful force for sparking and sustaining change shaping efforts. We will share with you some of the frameworks, processes and tools we’ve been harnessing in our own attempts to shape a more just and joyful future and will make space for us to begin exploring and expressing our personal and collective ideas to unfuck the world. This activation has been shaped by our journey working together on the inaugural Ideas to Unfu*k the World Incubator 2020 and we are excited to share stories, tips, tricks and tools with one another in this creative and playful activation.

Localising Tourism

Localising tourism proposes the idea that tourism can be defined by local communities right to control, decision making, benefit and empowerment in tourism. Localising tourism would ground tourism in the needs and interests of local communities and work to secure inclusive, pluralistic visions of well-being.

In this activation, we will start with a visioning of how we would like to welcome visitors to Adelaide in a way that supports total well-being. We propose to start by imagining a pledge of care we might invite visitors to sign on to when they holiday and play in our beautiful home of Adelaide and its surrounds.
