Opening our minds to new possibilities with intention

I recently read how the design of the original American rail network impacted on the design of the Solid Rocket Booster engines for the Space Shuttle. It’s an easy and very interesting read.

What other restraints are we living with that we have to squeeze to fit into? What designs and systems constrain what is possible? What are the paradigms we don't see because they have been accepted and normalised and are entrenched into our ways of being?

Several come straight to mind. Women's exclusion from financial investment, indigenous peoples' access to land ownership, legislation and government systems that uphold exclusion and limit access for all.

Identifying these systems are the drivers for our Impact Chains activation event on November 11, 2021 at the Old Adelaide Gaol. Our choice of location is intentional.

We will come together to make visible the systems and designs that are not serving humanity, bring intuitions of injustice and inequality to our consciousness, embody these realisations so we can feel and understand them, and then collaborate and act on solutions to bring about systemic change. We want to wave goodbye to what doesn't serve the planet and humanity, and to create new systems that are just, fair, inclusive and hold the space for the best of humanity.

“Past decisions have lingering, unintended effects that we accept without really questioning their genesis. These can make us closed to what might be possible because we confuse what is possible with “what is possible within the way we do things at the moment.” Batch Batchelder
